Does anyone else feel like their week has been a bit screw-y on them? My days are getting mixed up, so good thing I’m not in school because I just know it would have been a clusterpoop. It’s why I didn’t post on Tuesday, like I normally do, because up until I basically went to sleep, I thought it was Monday 😅
But we’re back on track with Friday’s post!
My extensive collection of Colourpop’s lipsticks (and some of their eyeshadows as well) have inspired this post. Even though it’s not quite fall and where I am is actually experiencing the end of heat wave, autumnal makeup picks and transitional skincare routines are a thing. With that in mind, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite autumnal Colourpop lipsticks!
ULTRA METALLIC IN ZEBRA
Metallic lipsticks aren’t for everyone—they run the gamut between completely unwearable and subtle enough to wear out but pretty enough to garner a few compliments.
Zebra is a shiny brownish, loosely described by me as “copper” shade. It’s metallic and not sparkly, an important distinction for those who don’t like full out sparkle on their lips and having to deal with wiping that shit off, no matter how great the makeup remover.
I love this one because despite the color screaming fall it’s such a versatile shade that can be dressed up or down, as a statement lip but also lowkey enough to be worn with anything.
CREME LIPPIE STIX IN BOYS TOWN
After grabbing a few of the creme lippie stix in my last haul, I’ve come to realize that the creme lippie stix are one of my favorite formulas the Colourpop lip range has. They are so soft and creamy, reminding me a bit of the NYX Butter lipsticks, and feel great on the lips.
Boys Town is another brown nude shade, lighter than Zebra. As you can see on my arm it swatches more of a tan beige-y color, but I’ve found on my lips it’s darker and more cool-toned.
BLOTTED LIP IN DEJA VU
Granted, this is part of the Alexis Ren x Colourpop collab, which is still available though currently out of stock, but any of the blotted lips are perfect for that barely there stain.
Being a blotted lip, Deja Vu is a sheer but buildable light, dusty pink. If your natural lip color happens to be lighter, you’ll get color out of this one, but for those with a darker natural lip like me, this is one of those that even out the color of your natural lips for a MLBB look.
This is perfect for running about or if you want to eat and don’t want to reapply your lipstick (because hey, that requires thought). It fades naturally throughout the day whether you eat or not. Unfortunately it’s not the longest lasting formula, even on me where lipsticks tend to stay, but I think that’s kind of the whole thing behind “blotted lips”.
ULTRA GLOSSY LIP IN SOOKIE
Need a vampy color that isn’t drying? Glossy lips are IN.
Sookie is a beautiful deep plum shade that’s comfortable to wear and great for nights out. (And was anyone else instantly reminded of Melissa McCarthy’s lovely character on Gilmore Girls with the same name?)
Sookie is quite pigmented in and of itself, but it also works as a glossy topper for its slightly darker, matte counterpart – Colourpop’s Ultra Matte lipstick in Hutch.
ULTRA SATIN IN CALYPSO
Seemingly one of Colourpop’s better liked formulas, the ultra satin formula in Calypso is a deeper, pinkish nude. Like most of Colourpop’s formulas, it’s pigmented, so if you want something good for everyday but still gives that pop over the other colors I mentioned, Calypso is for you.
