I think we can all agree that beauty boxes are a great way to try products from different brands to make a potential addition to your skincare (or anything) routine. It’s definitely the case for the Influenster Glow Voxbox I received in the mail some time ago.
I received these products for free in exchange for my honest opinion, but all opinions are my own.
NOT YOUR MOTHER’S ROYAL HONEY AND KALAHARI DESERT MELON LEAVE IN CONDITIONER
I had debated on getting a leave in conditioner, so when this one came in the mail I was interested to see how it would work out. Considering how gorgeous the name sounds, I did expect this to smell better, which is strange, because I read in a lot of reviews that it’s a great smelling product.
Personally, I am not a huge fan of this product. I just didn’t feel like it did much for me. Maybe it was also because I was anticipating a more dramatic effect, specifically when it came to smoothness, but I was disappointed.
CHILD OF WILD FLASH TATTOOS
Flash tattoos are kind of a festival staple (especially if glitter ain’t yo thang) so I was sad that I didn’t really have anywhere to go with these, but they’re still fun to try out and wear around. I got FOUR SHEETS, which is crazy—but awesome. There’s a lot of choices, big and small, geometric and Egyptian style.
As is the deal is with temporary tattoos, I didn’t expect these to last as long as they did, especially considering I wasn’t doing anything special to keep it on longer. They lasted through at least two showers and probably would have lasted longer if I didn’t sleep on my arm weirdly.
When you first put it on, it felt tight and the design won’t look super smooth, but it still looks good, and most importantly, lasts for a while. While flash tattoos aren’t a thing I’ll be spending tons of money on, they’re definitely fun to play around with if you have the chance to try them out!
SINFUL COLORS NAIL POLISH IN SUPER COOPER
First off, I am not a real nail polish person. Secondly, while I like green in theory, on my nails, not so much. Unless I’m doing some sort of design—which I’m usually not because IT’S SO HARD.
Aside from the color, I will say that it’s not a bad nail polish. The shine isn’t glitter (thank god) so the polish goes on smoothly and the sparkle in it is quite subtle.
SHEA MOISTURE AFRICAN BLACK SOAP PROBLEM SKIN FACIAL WASH & SCRUB
Unsurprisingly, the two skincare items in this box ended up being my favorites.
This one in particular reminded me of Oreo filling when I squeezed it out of the little sample packet, but it is, in fact, the softest facial scrub I’ve ever used. It’s so incredibly gentle and light. When I saw it had shea butter and I was like NO WONDER.
And for only $10, it’s definitely a bargain if you’re in the market for a scrub. My only complaint is the weird smell that I am not at all into, but is not a deciding factor for me.
SHEA MOISTURE AFRICAN BLACK SOAP CLARIFYING MUD MASK
With a similarly light consistency, reminding me a little bit of mousse, the Clarifying Mud Mask performed just as well. The smell is definitely compared to the scrub, though admittedly still not amazing.
My biggest pro when it comes to this mask is that it doesn’t dry out on your skin, so you can talk, eat, etc. while the mask is on! For the duration (~10 min) of the mask on my face, it felt surprisingly light and moisturizing on my skin. Afterwards, my skin felt soft and refreshed.
Which to me is like:
The samples from Shea Moisture are one of the few samples I’ve gotten where I’m actually planning to buy the full sized product.
Does anything tickle your fancy from this VoxBox?
