After stopping by the store, I was able to pick up a few samples from Kiehl's, which totaled up to a whole skincare routine! Read through for my thoughts!

To me, Kiehl’s has always seemed like one of those staple brands that always does the job, and whenever you’re going through problematic skin, this is the brand you go back to.

Problem is, I’ve never tried Kiehl’s.

And to be totally honest, while I have my skin problems, I would never describe my skin as problematic. Nonetheless, the brand has always intrigued me and when I was at the mall (for the first time in ages) that actually had a Kiehl’s store, I figured I’d drop in and take a look around.

This led to a very nice saleswoman, a short skincare consultation, and most importantly, a few samples to take home with me.

I’ve had my eye on a few of the products so it was pretty exciting to take a few of them home to try before committing to a full size version. Armed with basically a whole skincare routine, I was able to collect my thoughts.

The cucumber herbal line is for all skin types, particularly dry or sensitive.

If you like lathering up your cleanser (because somehow that makes it seem like it works better) but don’t enjoy the drying/stripping feeling it leaves afterwards, this is a great choice for you. As someone with drier skin, foaming cleansers aren’t my thing but I’m a sucker for ones that don’t dry out my skin after.

This one is very gentle, lathers up nicely, and doesn’t strip your skin, so I can see why dry or sensitive skin types would love this. However, other than that, there’s nothing inherently special about this cleanser that would make me get a full size.

I actually had my eye on the Ultra Facial toner, but the saleswoman assured me that was for very dry skin types, and the cucumber herbal was amazing in its own right.

Now this toner has a watery consistency that worked best for me by tapping into the skin… a lot. I felt like my skincare routine just got a heck of a lot longer, and yet, at the same time, felt great in the fact that it absorbed the toner well.

Initially I wasn’t a huge fan of how tacky it left my skin feeling, but never is toner the last step in my routine, and the tackiness was replaced by the silky softness of my serum.

Side note: the toner is GREEN so even though it was just going on my face it makes me feel healthy 😁

Probably the most important step in any skincare routine, now comes the serum! I love the name, because “plump” is definitely how I want my skin to feel, and “re-texturizing” appeals to me as someone who has a bit of an issue with skin texture.

I don’t have a lot of experience with serums in general, but I always thought they were more on the liquid-y side, so I was surprised to see this one with a soft, gel-like consistency. It applies on the skin very smoothly and when my friend and I tried this out in the store, we were blown away how smooth it felt on our skin.

However, for me it’s more of an expensive moisturizing addition than anything else. While my skin feels hydrated and debatably “plump” after application, I can’t vouch for much else. Maybe because real texture and wrinkles aren’t a problem for me yet, or the fact that you need a much longer time to use this (although for a sample, it’s not bad).

Either way, I’m not impressed enough to spend the money on it, but I’d highly recommend getting your hands on a sample of this!

I’m super glad to have gotten a sample of this because I was debating about getting it, sure that I would like it. Now that I have tried it, I’m on the fence about whether I like it or not. There’s not anything I would say is totally bad about it, but I guess I just had different expectations on how I expected it to feel, etc. Do you ever feel that way about a product?

It says unscented, but it’s one of those where you expect literally no smell but there’s still a little something something there.

I expected a richer texture from this, but it’s more lightweight, so I can see why people with oily skin enjoy this too. Going from the Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Gel and belif Aqua Bomb, both of which don’t give my drier skin as much hydration as I would like, this feels extra moisturizing.

It leaves my skin feeling smooth, *almost* to the point of greasiness. If I touched my face with my fingers it felt slick, but I never thought as I was putting it on, “man, my face feels greasy.” That being said, it does take some time for it to sink into your face. Once it was totally absorbed, my face felt moisturized af.

Unfortunately, I think I like this more than the Ultra Facial Cream. “Unfortunately” because when I shop for moisturizers, I only need night ones rather than for during the day. Since this one contains sunscreen, it’s more suited for day use.

This has a thicker consistency than the Ultra Facial Cream, more creamy like and with an opaque white color similar to sunscreen. While it does have a faint sunscreen smell, it doesn’t linger or leave that pesky white cast on your face.

Like the Ultra Facial Cream, it also leaves my skin feeling smooth but unlike the original version, not greasy at all, which was a tad surprising with the sunscreen addition.

Have you tried anything from Kiehl’s?
