I was so excited for this post I nearly wrote it a month in advance. However, as things are with writing them a month in advance, my favorites have changed. Less beauty and skincare products as this was a month I was dedicating to finishing up some samples that I’ve had since forever, and more “lifestyle” favorites.
(The word “lifestyle” seems so overused and broad and vague like one of those filler words that doesn’t actually say anything but until I find a better alternative we’re going to have to stick with this cringe-worthy word.)
There were some skincare and makeup (read: BB cream) samples I used up during March, most of which I liked and all of which were of Korean origin.
Firstly, the Goodal Super Seed Oil Plus Skin Mist, Oil Plus Moist Emulsion and Creamy Plus Hydrating Cream. They all come together as a skincare system, and it seriously makes my skin beautiful and dewy and plump and ohmygosh. Not the best smelling products – very plant-like – but the results are totally worth it. The Hydrating Cream especially feels silky and luxurious on the skin.
The Isa Knox Essence and Intensive Cream were another few favorites of mine, feeling light and lasting a long time on the skin. It also didn’t smell as bad so if you’re looking for similar results, this is also one to try out.
On to BB creams, I unexpectedly received the Liole BB Cream with my Etude House Tint My Brows purchase, and put it off until my counter of samples was getting on the verge of unbearable. Once I started using it though, man, I wish I had opened it up straight away. Just a shade lighter than my actual skin tone (which is perfect for me when it comes to BB creams) it evened out my skin tone making it look like a kind of natural flawlessness; without sticking to my dry patches.
In comparison, another sample I have – the name of which is printed in characters I can’t read and only known as a BB cream because of SPF30/PA+++ on the back – doesn’t quite live up to the Liole. Although shade-wise it’s a near perfect match, it takes more product to blend out as nicely as the Liole did, which makes me feel like it “sticks” to my skin in a way that I can see and feel upon closer inspection. I wouldn’t say it looks bad at all and it works but I prefer the Liole.
Not only do I sell a few of my items on Depop, I also buy! Not very often, but I occasionally like to scroll through and see if I can find unique items at a reasonable price. Lo and behold I come across a black denim pinafore dress!
What I also like about Depop is that when I’m just looking through my Explore page I find things that I wouldn’t normally tend to look for, which is exactly what happened with this. Although it’s a little small around my waist, I think it’s super cute and an effortless way to create an outfit without much thought behind it.
On my Instagram you saw a peek of it, but here’s me trying to look all cool and YouTube-Lookbook worthy. 😉
Normally food favorites aren’t really a thing for me. However I am continually surprised by the snacks I find at Trader Joe’s. I tweeted (insert link) a while ago about the amazing-ness of their butter cookies (which I still stand by of course) but let me show you a whole new world with their Sour Cream and Onion Popcorn Puffs.
NO JOKE. This is perfect if you feel like munching on something but aren’t actually hungry. They melt in your mouth a little bit and aren’t completely over the top with the sour cream and onion. AND they’re like, $2. Win-win.
I considered my last Sunday really productive literally just because I started so many different Netflix shows. And while I’m still debating whether or not I like Ingobernable and unfortunately, Iron Fist was definitely a miss with me, there are still a few that I enjoyed.
Crazyhead is actually quite similar to Supernatural in that it follows two women who are hunting demons. And like Supernatural, it’s not entirely doom doom the world is ending; it does have its light humorous moments, though some of the humor is decidedly more mature, so it’s something to keep in mind if you want to watch it. It’s only 6 episodes at 40 min, so it’s a quick watch!
Travelers is also a new Netflix show with only 12 episodes and less humorous than Crazyhead, but an… interesting watch. People from the future, travelers, come back to the 21st century by way of inhabiting the bodies of those who are just about to die in order to save the future – which has been decimated by plagues and war. I’ve only gotten through about half the episodes but it’s intriguing to watch.
This was the month I tried out Spotify and actually stuck with it. I prefer Soundcloud because it doesn’t have as many ads (they happen waayy too often on Spotify), however, since I’m always looking for new music I find Spotify does work better. Two songs I’ve been really liking are Bubblegum by Totem, which is a happy song without being too pop-ish; and Lend Me Your Love by Preston Hutto which is a much slower, chill song with some awesome vocals. Honestly I have no idea what genres to put these in but they’re songs I can listen to over and over so check them out if you’d like!
What are your favorites for this month?
