What’s Inside My Overnight Bag

What's inside my overnight bag? The makeup + skincare essentials of course.

Hey everybody! I know it’s Tuesday, but I still hope everyone had an awesome weekend.

Since lately all I’ve been thinking about is concerts (#throwbacktuesday?), I thought I’d talk about what’s inside my overnight bag since the last time I spent the night was in L.A. for Mad Decent.

First off, it obviously depends on where you’re going and what you’re doing, since there’s no point in packing your entire makeup collection in your overnight bag. These are just a few of the makeup basics that I think are good to carry if you find yourself spending the night.

Okay, so yeah, I’m really digging this Smashbox primer which I’ve probably mentioned five bajillion times. It’s lightweight, not greasy, and odorless. For my overnight bag, I take the travel size, which is super cute. A little goes a long way with this stuff too, so if you’re planning on buying it, the travel size isn’t a bad choice even if you’re planning to use it daily.

Obviously, you’ve probably heard me talk about this a lot if you read my blog a lot (or if you want you can see all my posts when they’re uploaded here) but because I don’t have too many blemishes on my skin to require foundation every day, I usually just pack this concealer.

It’s a really easy (and fast) product to apply without the need for fingers, which also makes it a good on-the-go product. Since it’s small, it’s also more travel-friendly than my bottle of foundation.

Obviously, eyebrows are a must. The Laura Mercier Brow Definer has become one of my favorite eyebrow products, and I use it without fail every day. It’s perfect whether you’re going for a lighter brow or a darker one. Most of the time I’m usually going for a darker brow, so I pair it with the Sorme Cosmetics Brow Powder. I apply them both with my Sonia Kashuk No. 108 pencil, although it’s not my favorite because it’s a little thicker than I want it. However, it does the trick.

I really love this eyeshadow (despite its age) because it’s two simple, neutral colors that I can wear whenever and wherever. I love that I also don’t have to worry about it matching, and that it’s super small so it’s easy to take with me. I blend it out with my Sephora brush, and then use the e.l.f. liquid eyeliner to make my winged tip. The super thin brush makes it easier to get a thin line.

Although the bottle flares out at the bottom, it’s still pretty easy to pack in your overnight bag!

I got this product from Sidmool which is a Korean brand. It’s basically supposed to be really healthy for your lips, which is why I use it nightly. You can use it as a lip gloss, because it does finish glossy and it’s clear, so you can wear it alone or with another lipstick. Because of it’s versatility, it definitely earned a spot in my overnight bag.

Personally, it’s a little thick for my taste which is why I only use it nightly (and occasionally daily) but it does really help my chapped lips.

I recently got this NARS pencil, and I absolutely love the color. It matches everything and is super travel-friendly. Sometimes I also pair it with the Stila Lip Glaze if I want a glossy look and I haven’t already used the lip essence. This is mostly an extra for me, as I don’t usually go for glossy lips.

When the day is over, it’s just a few more products. The Avon Remover Lotion was my first makeup remover, and to be honest I’ve pretty much moved on. However, I do like that it removes makeup well and not drying to my face. Since I want to take the least amount of products (including skincare) this has been a major help. I only follow up with two things for after my shower and that’s it.

Although I’m not a huge fan of the thicker substance (main reason why I moved on to oil based cleaners) it means I don’t use a lot of product so this lasts me a long time (plus it’s super affordable). Also, the size is travel-friendly and even though it doesn’t matter, I like the simple packaging.

I actually got these little samples (I don’t even remember where) and so far I’ve really liked them. If it weren’t for Laneige’s higher price point, I really would like the purchase the full-sized versions.

I don’t like going to sleep with my face feeling gunky or dry, which is why I’ve added these two extra steps to my overnight bag. As the skin refiner is more like a liquid, it is applied first, followed by the lotion-like emulsion. To be honest, it’s hard to get the emulsion out of the bottle, but then again it is a sample. These are both super lightweight and make my face feel refreshed and clean no matter what I’ve done throughout the day.
