SEPTEMBER FAVORITES

It's the beginning of October which means September favorites are in season! Check out what I've been liking throughout the month.

It’s October and that means it’s my birthday month! I’m really excited but also nervous because there’s just a lot going on this month, so I might miss a post or two. But let’s get on to my September favorites!

There’s not a lot this month because I was mainly focused on finishing samples and finally getting around to throwing out some long overdue makeup, but I hope you enjoy nevertheless.

Lush Mint Julips Lip Scrub

I was right to think that this was going to become a fast favorite of mine. Since I first hauled it, I’m still loving it. It smells absolutely amazing, makes my lips feel smooth and hydrated without adding a layer of balm over it, and a little goes a long way. Which is great, because when I first saw it, even though I knew I wanted to try it out, I was nervous about the small pot not lasting me very long. I mean, $11 isn’t the cheapest for a tiny lip scrub. However, I’ve barely made a dent!

And it’s not as messy as you might think. Because you only need the bare minimum, there’s not a big mess to clean up after. Granted, you should still be over the case just in case, but I thought it would be much worse given scrubs in general.

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream with Sunscreen

If you guys have read my skincare routine with all Kiehl’s products, you’ll know that this was my favorite of the bunch. It was rich without being greasy, made my skin feel ultra-smooth and nourished for the day. It left no white cast and didn’t have a heavy sunscreen smell. Although the SPF rating wasn’t the best, it’s nothing that can’t be solved with an extra layer of sunscreen.

The Good Place

Part of me hates watching Netflix originals, because they’re all new and only have one season up, so it takes a while for the next season to arrive. I’m still waiting on the next Grace and Frankie season!

However, I can’t help myself when something with an interesting summary pops up. Basically, the main character dies and is now in The Good Place. I wish I could say more about it, but there are a few plot twists that I really don’t want to give away. Either way, I found it much more interesting than it sounds. Episodes are only 20 minutes long, and even though the idea is that they’re all dead and in The Good Place, it’s light and entertaining.

Violette _fr

I have been binging Violette’s YouTube channel for the past week. Her French accent is so soothing, and almost all her videos are under 5 minutes. It is a beauty channel, but not like your average beauty guru. She really does add the French element to it, doing her makeup quickly and with her fingers, usually in a public place or even sometimes in the car (something I wish I could do). It’s cool if you live in New York, as a lot of her places are cafes and whatnot in New York.

She’s definitely inspired me to be more expressive with makeup, and potentially try out some different colors and add some glitter to my arsenal. But she also has very chill, laid back looks. I would highly recommend checking out her channel; I love the vibes and the simplicity of everything, and again, almost every video is less than 5 minutes, so they’re really easy to watch.

What have you been loving through September? What’s something you’re looking forward to most in October?

  • I’m really enjoying violette too! she’s such a breath of fresh air amongst those influencers that are all, yaAAAaaAAasSSSssSS!!!! yknow? though i still do enjoy me some jaclyn hill when the mood hits. I’m so hesitant on buying a lip scrub just because it’s so easy to diy your own, but I’m also wondering if the store version really is that much better!

    • Sam

omg I definitely know what you mean. as much as I still like to watch jenn im and stuff, violette is so different.

I was hesitant about buying the lip scrub at first too! especially since I make my own body scrub and they really aren’t that different, if at all. for me, it just came down to something I just wanted to try, good or bad. I figured it was a one time splurge, just to see. at the very least, having the tub there reminds me “hey! scrub your lips!” since it’s prepackaged as opposed to making it myself, where I just made it when I wanted to use it.

  • Yesss! I love Violette too and like Becky said, she’s a breath of fresh air. No heavy contouring, no crazy highlighters or eyebrows, she’s just ‘real’ and I can so relate to her!

  • I was planning on doing a lush haul soon, so I’ll check out the lip scrub and love the videography of violette _fr! but man.. the good place is definitely one of my favourites as well. I normally wait for a whole season to be out before binge-watching it, but as soon i discovered it I just can’t wait. Though i really wished the episodes would be longer or at least more episodes in the season 😭 😭 😭

I know, shows that only have 12 or 13 short episodes in one season are the death of me!

  • I love Lush products, I adore the bubblegum & chocolate orange lip scrubs and they’re so good for this time of year. Always after new Netflix recommendations so will check out The Good Place -I can’t wait for Stranger Things! Not long now!
